UFC on ESPN+ 39: Bryce Mitchell vs. Andre Fili Play-by-Play

Bryce Mitchell put his 13-fight undefeated record on the line on Saturday when he fought Andre Fili. Their fight went like this.

Bout 10: Bryce Mitchell (13-0) vs. Andre Fili (21-7) (Featherweight)

Mitchell scored a takedown in the first minute of the fight, getting side control over Fili. Mitchell was put in half guard after attempting to move into full mount. Fili was able to get back to his feet in the second minute of the round, although Mitchell landed a trip takedown from a clinch moments after. Mitchell got on the back of Fili with two minutes left in the fight, taking full mount after Fili turned over. Fili was able to move Mitchell out of positions, although Mitchell would always be on the attack. Mitchell went on his back to attempt a triangle choke, with Fili being able to get out of the position. Mitchell got Fili to the ground again with 30 seconds left in the round.

Mitchell was able to land a few singular punches early in the second round. Fili stopped a takedown attempt in the first minute of the round. Fili looked for a flying knee in the second minute of the round. Fili started to charge forward with punches in the second minute of the round. Mitchell failed to get a takedown in the second minute of the round, putting Fili against the cage for a moment. Mitchell was able to get his first takedown of the round in the third minute of the round. Like the round before, Mitchell switched between being in half guard and full mount. Mitchell went into side control with half of a round to go in the fight. Fili was able to explode out of the position and return to the feet with 20 seconds to go. Fili landed a strike that knocked the mouthguard of Mitchell out. Fili threw Mitchell down after stopping a takedown attempt.

Mitchell was able to get a takedown 30 seconds into the final round. Fili was able to reverse the position and take top position in the second minute of the round. Mitchell got back to his feet and landed another takedown in the third minute of the round. Mitchell landed some punches from the top. Mitchell held the position on top until the fight ran out of time. Mitchell got the win after three rounds of action (29-28, 30-27 & 30-27).

RESULT: Bryce Mitchell def. Andre Fili via Decision, Unanimous
