Looking to end a four-fight skid, UFC veteran Darren Elkins fought Eduardo Garagorri on the prelims. Here’s how their fight panned out.
Bout 3: Darren Elkins (24-9) vs. Eduardo Garagorri (13-1) (Featherweight)
Elkins was quick to land a double leg takedown on Garagorri. Elkins stayed pressed on Garagorri as he worked back up to the feet, scoring a takedown from a clinch in the second minute of the fight. Elkins continued to smother Garagorri with takedowns later in the round, scoring another double leg takedown halfway through the round. Elkins got on the back of Garagorri as they got to the feet in the fourth minute. The fight returned to striking with a minute to go. Elkins caught a leg kick for a takedown in the fifth minute of the round.
Garagorri was able to resist two takedown attempts early in the second round. Elkins scored a single leg takedown after the stopped attempts. The fight returned to the feet in the third minute. Garagorri landed a few punches on the feet. Garagorri was able to put together strikes on the feet, landing hard shots after resisting takedowns, as Elkins left himself open at those moments. Elkins slammed Garagorri down for a takedown in the final minute of the round.
A single leg takedown was stopped by Garagorri early in the third round. A punch rocked Elkins in the second minute of the round. Elkins was able to clinch with Garagorri and mount his back while on the feet. Elkins put in a rear naked choke from the position, causing Garagorri to tap out.
