UFC 257 will get a middleweight matchup in its lineup, as a fight between Antonio Carlos Junior and Brad Tavares has been booked for the show. News of the matchup was first reported by Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie.
While no location is confirmed for the January 23rd event, UFC President has said he is planning on holding it at “Fight Island” in the United Arab Emirates.
Tavares will look to snap a two-fight skid with the fight. His last fight was over a year ago, being stopped in the first round by Edmen Shahbazyan at UFC 244. His prior loss was against now-UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya back in 2018.
Carlos Junior will be returning after a pair of losses in 2019. Carlos Junior fought to two decisions in 2019, losing to Uriah Hall and Ian Heinisch.
A fight between Tavares and Carlos Junior has been booked before, although it was scrapped after Tavares faced an injury.
