Main event fight between Rafael dos Anjos and Paul Felder was given the “Fight of the Night” award for Saturday’s UFC “Fight Night” card. Along with that, “Performance of the Night” awards were given to Khaos Williams and Sean Strickland for their wins at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
All fighters given bonuses were awarded with an extra $50,000 on top of their previously negotiated fight purses.
The five-round main event fight was a win for dos Anjos, taking a split decision victory over Felder in the end. The fight was a strong showing for dos Anjos, who was making the move down from welterweight to lightweight. Felder took the fight on less than a week’s notice, replacing Islam Makhachev.
Williams won in the co-main event of the evening, having an explosive knockout victory over Abdul Razak Alhassan, landing a right hand which stopped the fight. The win was Williams’ second-straight which came in under a minute. His UFC debut in February over Alex Morono produced a similar result.
Strickland’s win came on the main card, defeating Brendan Allen in the second round with punches. Strickland dropped Allen twice with punches in the round, causing the referee to stop the fight. The win for Strickland was a quick return after fighting two weeks before.
