On the same night that Valentina Shevchenko will put her UFC Flyweight Championship on the line, her sister Antonina Shevchenko fought Ariane Lipski. This is how her fight went.
Bout 5: Antonina Shevchenko (8-2) vs. Ariane Lipski (13-5) (Flyweight)
Shevchenko landed a hard left cross early in the fight, although Lipski answered back immediately with strikes of her own. They went up against the cage in a clinch in the first minute, where Shevchenko put Lipski against the cage. Shevchenko tossed Lipski down for a takedown with a headlock in the third minute of the round. Lipski was able to move to the back of Shevchenko for a moment in the fourth minute, although Shevchenko was able to stop her and instead take half guard on top. Shevchenko landed a slow but steady stream of punches to the head of Lipski before the round ran out of time.
Lipski landed a right hook early in the second round that snapped the head of Shevchenko back. Shevchenko scored a takedown within the first minute of the round, moving into side control after landing in a north-south position. Shevchenko took the back of Lipski halfway through the round. Shevchenko started throwing a series of hooks to the head in the final minute that Lipski didn’t have an answer for, causing the referee to stop the fight.
RESULT: Antonina Shevchenko def. Ariane Lipski via TKO, Strikes (RD 2, 4:33)
