UFC Heavyweight Raphael Pessoa Given 12-Month USADA Suspension

UFC heavyweight Raphael Pessoa will be suspended from action for a year after violating the UFC’s “Anti-Doping Policy.” The US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced the suspension on Monday.

Pessoa tested positive for “hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) and its metabolites chlorothiazide and 4-amino-6-chloro-1,3-benzenedisulfonamide (ACB),” per the statement by USADA.

The test was taken on March 4th, meaning Pessoa will be eligible to compete again in March 2021.

Pessoa has a UFC record of one win and two losses. His last fight was in July, where he was stopped in the second round by Tanner Boser.
