UFC on ESPN 18: Ashlee Evans-Smith vs. Norma Dumont Play-by-Play

Making her move down to bantamweight, Norma Dumont fought Ashlee Evans-Smith on Saturday’s UFC card. Their fight went like this.

Bout 6: Ashlee Evans-Smith (6-4) vs. Norma Dumont (4-1) (Bantamweight)

Dumont was putting together hard punches early in the first round that were hurting Evans-Smith. Dumont landed a takedown from the clinch in the final minute of the round. 

Evans-Smith was able to score a takedown in the first minute of the second round. Dumont got on the back of Evans-Smith before they got back to the feet in a clinch. They went back down, where Dumont took side control on top after a scramble. Dumont moved into full mount in the second minute. She landed strikes from the top position periodically. Evans-Smith worked up to her feet with less than two minutes to go in the round. Dumont put together strikes late in the round.

Dumont landed a series of punches early in the final round. Dumont hurt Evans-Smith with strikes late in the fight, causing her to drop down to her knees for a moment. Dumont kept with strikes on the feet. She scored a clinch takedown before the round ran out of time. Going to the scorecards, Dumont picked up the win (30-26, 30-26 & 30-26).

RESULT: Norma Dumont def. Ashlee Evans-Smith via Decision, Unanimous
