Former UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson will get his first ONE Championship title shot on February 24th, facing current 125-pound champion Adriano Moraes. The match was announced by the promotion Friday during their “Big Bang” broadcast.
The champion ship fight between Johnson and Moraes was first scheduled for April of 2020 before COVID-19 forced a series of events to get cancelled.
Johnson’s championship fight comes after a three-fight run in ONE. His last fight was in October of 2019, where he defeated Danny Kingad in the finals of a grand prix.
Johnson is best known for his UFC Flyweight Championship run from 2012 to 2018 which saw him defend his belt 11 times.
The fight in February will be Moraes’ first as part of his third reign as ONE’s 125-pound champion. He reclaimed the bout in 2019, defeating Geje Eustaquio via unanimous decision.
