Bout 3: Louis Smolka (16-7) vs. Jose Alberto Quinonez (8-4) (Bantamweight)
Quinonez landed a clinch takedown in the opening minute of the fight. Smolka was able to quickly escape the position on his back and return to the feet. Quinonez was able to trip Smolka and put him on his back after catching a leg kick. Quinonez was putting together strong punches on the feet. Smolka landed a takedown in the final minute after landing a series of punches to the body. He scored a takedown from a clinch after Quinonez got up again. Smolka looked for a choke in the closing seconds of the round. Quinonez got to his feet before the round concluded. A cut near Smolka’s right eye opened late in the round.
Quinonez landed a clinch takedown early in the second round. Smolka looked for a guillotine choke from the bottom while getting back up to his feet. Smolka landed a combo of body shots in a clinic in the second minute. Smolka was able to throw Quinonez down in the second round, taking full mount after. Smolka kept with punches while on the back of Quinonez. Smolka eventually landed a series of punches that caused the referee to step in and stop the fight.
