Tecia Torres has a new opponent for UFC 256, as Sam Hughes has taken a short-notice fight on the card. The fight was first reported by BestFightPicks.
Hughes takes the place of Angela Hill, who was pulled from Saturday’s pay-per-view card after testing positive for COVID-19. The fight joins a card set to happen at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Hughes will make her UFC debut in the fight following a six-fight run on the regional scene. Her last fight was in October, where she stopped Danielle Hindley in the first round with a guillotine choke.
Hughes’ previous fight was the first loss of her career, as she lost a title fight to Vanessa Demopoulos in the fourth round due to a triangle choke.
Torres snapped a four-fight losing streak in her last bout, defeating Brianna Van Buren via decision in June.
