Angela Hill is out of her upcoming fight at UFC 256 against Tecia Torres after testing positive for COVID-19. The fight was scheduled to take place from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Hill announced her positive test on Sunday through social media.
“[I] Tried to stay as safe as possible during fightcamp but with mma training there’s virtually no social distancing,” said Hill.
It is not known at the moment if Torres will get a short-notice replacement opponent.
The fight was scheduled to be Hill’s fifth in the year. Hill had a busy and successful start to 2020, defeating Hannah Cifers and Loma Lookboonmee in the first two months of the year.
Hill’s last two fights were split decision losses to Claudia Gadelha and Michelle Waterson. Her fight against Waterson was her first UFC main event bout.
Torres broke a four-fight skid in her last bout, defeating Brianna Van Buren on the scorecards.
The fight joins a recent influx of cancelled fights due to positive COVID-19 tests.
Last weekend’s UFC card saw three fights, including a preview iteration of their main event, cancelled due to positive tests. Two of the tests were reported just hours before the event was set to happen.
UFC 256 now has 13 fights in total, including a UFC Flyweight Championship bout between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno.
