Jared Vanderaa Tests Positive For COVID-19, Removed From UFC Debut on Saturday Against Serghei Spivac

UFC 256’s lineup has taken another hit, as a positive COVID-19 to Jared Vanderaa has taken him out of his fight against Serghei Spivac. The news was first reported by Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie.

The cancelled fight knocks Saturday’s card from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA down to 10 bouts in total.

It is not known at the moment whether Spivac will get a replacement for his fight.

The fight was scheduled to be Vanderaa’s UFC debut. Vanderaa earned his UFC contract in November, defeating Harry Hunsucker on “Dana White’s Contender Series.”

Vanderaa, a former EFC Heavyweight Champion, addressed his positive test via TikTok on Thursday.

“Nothing wrong with me. I feel fine, my manager and all them are working to do what’s next, but thank you guys for all the support,” said Vanderaa.

Spivac was looking to earn his second consecutive UFC victory. His last fight was in July, where he defeated Carlos Felipe via majority decision.

UFC 256 is currently scheduled to have UFC Flyweight Champion Deiveson Figueiredo fight Brandon Moreno in the main event.
