Muslim Salikhov has been removed from his January 16th bout against Santiago Ponzinibbio following health issues related to a positive COVID-19 test.
Salikhov announced the cancelled bout on Tuesday through Instagram.
With just over a month until the event is scheduled to happen, it is not known at the moment whether Ponzinibbio will get a replacement opponent.
Ponzinibbio was looking to compete for the first time since November of 2018. The Argentinian fighter has an impressive seven-fight win streak which includes main event victories over Gunnar Nelson and Neil Magny.
Salikhov entered the fight with the intention of extending his four-fight win streak. Salikhov’s last win was in July, taking a split decision victory over Elizeu Zaleski.
