UFC’s January 20th card has lost another fight, as a positive COVID-19 test has taken Jeffrey Molina out of his fight against Zarrukh Adashev. News of the positive test was first reported by Igor Lazorin of TASS.
The fight was scheduled to be part of a “Fight Night” card from “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, Dubai.
It is not known at the moment if Adashev can get a replacement opponent.
The fight was scheduled to be Molina’s UFC debut. He earned a UFC contract over the summer on the TV show “Dana White’s Contender Series,” defeating Jacob Silva via decision. Prior to his “Contender Series” fight, Molina was on a six-fight win streak.
Adashev was attempting to earn his first UFC win in the January bout. He entered the UFC in June, taking a short-notice bout against Tyson Nam, filling the spot previously held by Ryan Benoit. Adashev lost the fight, being stopped in 32 seconds by Nam.
UFC’s January 20th card took another hit earlier in the day, as reports surfaced that Khamzat Chimaev withdrew from his main event fight against Leon Edwards.
