Former UFC fighter Paige VanZant will make her bare-knuckle boxing debut on February 5th, fighting Britain Hart on a BKFC card. VanZant announced the date for the fight on Thursday, with a following report from Damon Martin, Guilherme Cruz and Steve Marrocco of MMA Fighting confirming the opponent afterwards.
The fight joins a BKFC card that is set to happen in Tampa, Florida, USA. It will be VanZant’s first competition since exiting the UFC in 2020.
It was reported in August that VanZant would make the transition to bare-knuckle boxing, as she signed a four-fight contract with BKFC. The signing came after spending the majority of her MMA career in the UFC.
“Today is day one on my new crazy journey,” said VanZant after announcing her signing in August.
VanZant competed in the UFC from 2014 to 2020, putting together a record of five wins and four losses. Her last UFC fight was in July, where Amanda Ribas submitted her within a round with an armbar.
Late in her UFC run, VanZant was open about the fact that she would test free agency once her contract concluded. Per a report from MMA Fighting, VanZant was also offered a contract to fight in Bellator.
