Regional MMA promotion LFA has announced an eight-fight card for January 29th. LFA 98, which is set to happen at the Hartman Arena in Park City, Kansas, USA, includes a middleweight main event between Josh Fremd and Bruno Oliveira.
The promotion announced the full lineup on Friday.
The non-championship main event will be the third LFA appearance for Fremd. Fremd made his LFA debut in August, stopping Lamar Gosey in less than two minutes. He returned less than two months later to stop Antonio Jones within a round.
The fight in late January will be Oliveira’s first since a loss on TV series “Dana White’s Contender Series.” Oliveira lost to Carlos Ulberg on the show, being stopped by a left hook. The loss concluded a three-fight win streak for Oliveira from 2016 to 2019.
J.J. Okanovich vs. Lucas Clay
J.J. Okanovich will make his LFA debut in the co-main event, fighting Lucas Clay in a lightweight fight. Okanovich enters LFA on a seven-fight win streak which includes numerous wins in Bellator and one on “Dana White’s Contender Series.”
Clay returns to LFA after a two-year absence from the promotion. While absent from the cage in 2020, Clay had a strong run on the regional scene in 2019, picking up two-straight wins.
Richard Palencia vs. Jeimeson Saudino
Undefeated Richard Palencia will return to action on the card when he fights Jeimeson Saudino. While undefeated with two wins in LFA and a victory in Combate Americas, Palencia has been out of action since 2018.
Saudino won his first fight in six years in 2019, defeating Micah Stockton and ending a five-fight losing streak.
Austin Clem vs. Kyle Frost
Bellator alumni Austin Clem and Kyle Frost will make their first LFA appearances on the card. Clem last competed in February of 2020, where he defeated Aaron Chalmers via decision on a Bellator card. The win was his third-straight.
Frost is undefeated as a pro through four fights. He has earned a first-round rear naked choke victory in his past three bouts.
Joshua Silveira vs. Matt Paul
Returning after a win in October, Joshua Silveira will face Matt Paul in January. Silveira earned his third win as a pro three months back, catching Fernando Alvarado with an arm triangle choke to win.
The fight will be Paul’s first since 2018. His last fight was a rear naked choke win over Cameron Olson.
Zac Pauga vs. James Ashby Thomas
Both looking to build off their pro debuts, Zac Pauga and James Ashby Thomas will kick off the main card. Pauga won his pro debut under the LFA banner in July, defeating Zac Cavender via decision.
Thomas’ pro debut came in February of 2020, where he stopped Awsome Thurman with strikes in the second round.
Two Fighters Get Their Start on The Prelims
LFA’s preliminary card on Facebook will include two pro debuts. Flyweight Marisa Chavez will have her first pro fight against Marisol Ruelas and Dan Olajiga will fight Obinwa Ikebunna, who won his first fight as a pro in 2019.
