Bethe Correia Out of January 16th UFC Fight Due To Appendix Surgery

Bethe Correia’s retirement fight against Yu Wanan will have to wait, as she has withdrawn to undergo the removal of her appendix. Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting reported the news on Tuesday.

The fight was scheduled to happen on UFC’s January 16th “Fight Night” card in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

It is not known currently if Wu will get a replacement opponent for the fight.

The now-cancelled fight was announced in September as Correia’s last as a pro.

“This will be my last fight and it could not be at any event other than the one and only @UFC,” said Correia, announcing the fight on social media.

Correia lost her last fight, dropping a decision to Pannie Kianzad in July of 2020.

Wu last competed in 2019, where she lost a split decision to MIZUKI.
