Today’s UFC “Fight Night” prelims lost has a bout, as Phillip Hawes was pulled from his fight against Nassourdine Imavov. It was first reported by RT Sport that the fight wouldn’t happen.
Hawes wasn’t medically cleared for the fight, per details from Ariel Helwani of ESPN. A statement provided to Helwani from Hawes’ manager, Daniel Rubenstein, says they are trying to get him on next week’s UFC 257 card.
The fight was set to happen at UFC’s first event of the year, at the Etihad Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Imavov and Hawes were set to fight after both earning their UFC debut win in their last outing.
UFC’s main event today is still set to be between featherweights Max Holloway and Calvin Kattar.
