UFC’s February 27th event is down a fight for the time being, as Raphael Assuncao has withdrawn from his bout against Raoni Barcelos. Assuncao’s withdrawal from the fight was first reported by Nolan King and John Morgan of MMA Junkie.
The fight was scheduled to be a part of a “Fight Night” card from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
It is not known currently why Assuncao withdrew from the fight. Neither is it known if Barcelos will get a new opponent for his fight, which is just over three weeks away.
Assuncao was looking to snap a three-fight losing streak. His last fight was in June, where Cody Garbrandt stopped him late in the second round with a right hook.
Barcelos was entering the fight on a nine-fight win streak that includes five UFC fights. The most recent win in the streak was over Khalid Taha in November of 2020.
UFC’s February 27th event is down to 11 fights in total with the absence of Assuncao. Here is how the lineup looks.
