UFC Planning Two Matchups For May 1st Event

UFC is looking to hold a show on May 1st, as reports for two fights on that date have surfaced. The location of the event is not known at the moment.

Kai Kamaka III vs. TJ Brown

Kai Kamaka III and TJ Brown will both look to bounce back from losses in May. The matchup was first reported by Rob DeMello of KHON.

Kamaka III will return after taking his first UFC loss in his last fight. Kamaka III’s most recent fight was in November against Jonathan Pearce, where he was stopped in the second round with strikes.

Kamaka III’s UFC debut was a decision victory against Tony Kelley and was given a “Fight of the Night” award.

Brown has yet to pick up a UFC win since he was signed to the promotion in 2019. His two fights came against Jordan Griffin and Danny Chavez.

Damon Jackson vs. TJ Laramie

UFC are currently looking to book Damon Jackson against TJ Laramie on the card. The matchup, which has not been officially signed off on yet, was first reported by MMA Lock of the Night on Wednesday.

Should the match be confirmed, it will be an opportunity for Laramie to earn his first UFC win.

Laramie lost his UFC debut in September, getting stopped within a minute by Darrick Minner. The fight was a quick turnaround for Laramie, who had earned a UFC contract on “Dana White’s Contender Series” just a month before.

Jackson is also still in his rookie year as a pro. Jackson entered the UFC to replace Eduardo Garagorri in a fight against Mirsad Bektic in September. Minner won the fight, stopping Bektic in the third round with a guillotine choke.

Jackson was stopped in his last fight within a round by Ilia Topuria, who took him out of the match with punches.
