Paige VanZant’s bare-knuckle boxing career has started with a loss, as the former UFC fighter dropped a decision to Britain Hart in the main event of Friday night’s BKFC “Knucklemania” card.
Hart’s unanimous decision victory headlined a card from the RP Funding Center in Lakeland, Florida, USA.
The fight saw Hart out-land VanZant through five two-minute rounds. Despite Hart’s success, VanZant was never significantly rocked by shots.
“I really wanted to knock her out in the third round. She’s tough,” said Hart in her post-fight interview.
The fight was Hart’s fourth appearance under bare-knuckle boxing rules for BKFC. Her most recent fight prior to Friday was a win against Radine Elkholm in November. Her previous bouts include losses to Bec Rawlings and Christine Ferea.
The fight was VanZant’s first participation in a combat sport since her nine-fight UFC run concluded.
VanZant’s UFC career included five wins and two main event fights. Her UFC career wrapped up in July of 2020 after losing a fight to Amanda Ribas at UFC 251.
