UFC Releases Askar Askar Following Failed Medical Clearance

Rising bantamweight Askar Askar has been cut from UFC’s roster after getting scrapped from last week’s UFC “Fight Night” lineup.

Askar was set to take a short-notice fight on February 6th against Cody Stamann. Askar’s fight was pulled from the card the day of the event as he was not “medically cleared to compete.”

Askar’s release was first reported by Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.

Further details on the release mention that his medical testing issues were not COVID-19 or drug test related, per a report from Nolan King of MMA Junkie.

The TSN report mentions that Askar is currently “seeking medical clearance” so he can return to competition.

Askar last competed in October, defeating Kevin Wirth in the main event of an LFA card.
