Former UFC fighter Antonio Carlos Junior has signed with the PFL, becoming a late entrant into the promotion’s light heavyweight season. News of Carlos Junior’s entrance into the 2021 season was first reported by John Morgan of MMA Junkie.
Carlos Junior will get his first fight on April 29th against fighting Tom Lawlor. He will take the place of Jordan Johnson, who reportedly withdrew from the bout.
The fight joins the lineup for PFL 2, which will take place at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.
The bout will be Carlos Junior’s first since wrapping up a 13-fight run in the UFC. Winner of the third season of “The Ultimate Fighter Brazil,” Carlos Junior had a promotional record of seven wins, five losses and one no contest.
Carlos Junior was cut from the roster after losing three consecutive bouts. His last fight was in January, where he dropped a decision to Brad Tavares.
Carlos Junior will be moving up a weight class for the PFL season.
