Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt will return in a main event bout against Rob Font on May 22nd, per a report from Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
The five-round bout joins a UFC “Fight Night” card that does not have a confirmed location at the moment.
Garbrandt concluded a three-fight losing streak in June, stopping Raphael Assuncao with a second-round right hook knockout. Garbrandt was scheduled to make the move to flyweight in November to challenge current champion Deiveson Figueiredo, however, that fight was cancelled after Garbrandt had to deal with an injury.
The fight in May will be Garbrandt’s first five-round fight since his two-fight championship rivalry with TJ Dillashaw in 2018.
Font is being thrown into the main event picture after stringing together three wins at bantamweight. His last fight was in December, where he stopped Marlon Moraes within a round with punches.
Here is UFC’s May 22nd card now looks with the bantamweight main event in place.
