ONE Championship has announced changes to the preliminary card for “ONE on TNT 1” on Wednesday night. The changes include kickboxer Patrick Schmid moving to an MMA ruleset to face Reug Reug after both of their original opponents were removed from the card.
The new matchups, which were unveiled in a press release by ONE, will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
Reug Reug’s original opponent, Mehdi Barghi, along with Schmid’s first opponent Rade Opacic, were removed from the card due to ONE’s “health and safety protocols,” per the press release. While Schmid was brought in to fight in a kickboxing match, he will transfer to MMA rules to fight fellow heavyweight Reug Reug.
Wednesday’s fight will be Schmid’s first in MMA after a career in kickboxing.
ONE Championship’s prelims have also gained a bout, maintaining the total number of fights on the card at six. A kickboxing bout between Chingiz Allazov and Enriko Kehl that was previously set to air during ONE’s April 21st card will now happen on Wednesday.
