Bellator’s three upcoming events in late April and mid-May have received numerous new matchups as of late. Here is a quick roundup of the recently reported bouts.
The fights are all set to take place at Bellator’s pandemic hub venue, the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, USA.
Five Fights Join Bellator’s April 16th Card
Bellator 257, the promotion’s final event in April, has received five bouts as of late.
Former PFL fighter Viktor Nemkov will make his Bellator debut at Bellator 257, fighting Karl Abrektsson in a light heavyweight bout, as confirmed by the promotion on their website.
Albrektsson made his Bellator debut in 2019, losing a fight to Phil Davis via stoppage. He has fought outside the promotion once since then, defeating Amilcar Alves on a regional show last year.
Nemkov last fought as part of PFL’s 2019 season, earning two wins and one draw.
Returning after losing a title shot to Patricio Pitbull last year, Pedro Carvalho will meet undefeated prospect Jay Jay Wilson in a featherweight bout. The matchup was first reported by Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
Prior to his loss to Pitbull last year, Carvalho had attained four consecutive wins in Bellator from 2018 to 2019.
Wilson’s undefeated record includes six wins, including five which have come via stoppage.
Returning for his fourth Bellator appearance, undefeated heavyweight Steve Mowry will fight Shaun Asher, as reported by James Lynch first.
Mowry continued his career-long finish streak in October, stopping Shawn Teed in the first round with strikes.
Asher will be making his return to the cage after over a year of inactivity. His last bout was in late 2019, where he defeated Anthony Trotter on a regional card.
A bout that was first scheduled for Bellator’s April 9th card between Saul Rogers and Mads Burnell has found a new date, now being placed on April 16th, as confirmed by the promotion on Wednesday.
Burnell, a former UFC fighter, enters the bout on a five-fight win streak. He won his Bellator debut last year, stopping Darko Banovic within a round with strikes.
Rogers is also returning after a win, submitting Arbi Mezhidov in October.
Julius Anglickas will make his third Bellator appearance when fighting Gregory Milliard in April.
Anglickas has won his past two Bellator appearances and is currently on a eight-fight win streak. His last win was in November, where he handed former LFA Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Polizzi his first pro loss.
Milliard enters Bellator after earning four wins through the past five years.
Perez vs. Moore & Return of Loureda Joins Bellator 258
Attempting to snap a two-fight skid, Erik Perez will fight Brian Moore at Bellator’s May 7th card. The matchup was first confirmed by Carlos Contreras Legaspi of Milenio.
Perez, a former UFC fighter, had a five-fight undefeated run before joining the Bellator roster in 2019. He has struggled since then, losing bouts to Toby Misech and Josh Hill.
Moore will be making his eighth appearance under the Bellator banner. Moore has won his last two bouts, including a recent stoppage win against Simone D’Anna in October.
Attempting to earn her fourth Bellator win, Valerie Loureda will face Hannah Guy at Bellator 258, as first reported by Tom Taylor of Maxim.
Still early in her pro career, Loureda has attained quite a following since debuting in 2019. The American Top Team prospect scored her third Bellator victory in August, stopping Tara Graff in the second round of a bout.
Guy also has three fights on her record, although she has two wins and one loss. She picked up a win in her last fight, submitting Vanessa Marie Grimes on a card in August.
Former CES Champ Andrews To Face Awad At Bellator 259
Two matchups have also been reported for Bellator’s May 21st card as of late.
Former CES Lightweight Champion and PFL fighter Nate Andrews will make his Bellator debut at Bellator 259, fighting promotional vet Saad Awad, per a report from Farah Hannoun and Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
Andrews last fought during PFL’s 2019 season, earning a record of one win and two losses. He had a strong run in regional promotion CES, picking up nine consecutive wins.
Awad has an important fight ahead of him, as he will look for his first win in six appearances. After losing four bouts from 2018 to 2019, Awad was taken out of a fight early last year against Mandel Nallo due to an accidental low blow. Awad has fought in Bellator since 2013, currently holding a promotional record of 11 wins and 10 losses.
Bellator are looking to make a fight between Fabian Edwards and Austin Vanderford, as first reported by MMA Junkie.
Vanderford’s Bellator run has been strong since he entered the promotion in 2019. His last victory was back in November, where he fought to a decision win over Vinicius de Jesus.
Edwards will attempt to bounce back from his first pro loss, which came via split decision against Costello van Steenis last year. His pro career includes four wins in his rookie year in Bellator.
