UFC’s April 17th “Fight Night” card lost a preliminary card bout on Friday as “weight management issues” forced Zarah Fairn out of a fight against Josiane Nunes, per an announcement made by the promotion. The bout was cancelled after Fairn missed weight for her fight by a wide margin on Friday.
The bout was set to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Fairn was first scheduled for a bantamweight bout, although her fight was moved to a catchweight of 139-pounds on short notice, per a report from MMA Fighting. Fairn missed the catchweight by eight pounds, coming in at 147 pounds in total.
The fight was set to be Fairn’s first at bantamweight since joining the UFC. The 34-year-old’s two previous UFC fights took place in the featherweight division.
UFC’s April 17th card now has 11 bouts in total. The card currently has middleweights in the main event, as Robert Whittaker is set to fight Kelvin Gastelum.
