UFC’s April 24th pay-per-view event has lost a fight, as a fight between Jamey Simmons and Johnny Munoz has been removed from the preliminary card. Removal of the bout was announced by the promotion on Monday, who said the fight will be rescheduled to a later date.
The fight was set to happen on UFC 261, which is set to take place at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, USA. It is not known currently why the fight was removed from the card.
Both featherweights were attempting to bounce back after losing their UFC debuts last year.
Simmons had his first UFC appearance in November, where he lost to Giga Chikadze within a round due to strikes. He was given the UFC call-up following a three-fight win streak on the regional scene.
Munhoz’s UFC debut gave him his first pro loss, as he was on the losing end of a unanimous decision to Nate Maness. Munhoz entered the cage with 10 consecutive wins in regional promotion King of the Cage.
UFC 261 now has 13 fights in total scheduled for it. Sitting atop a card that has three championship bouts is a fight between UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal.
