Reports are saying that two fights have been booked for an August 21st card, an event that was not previously reported for the UFC schedule. The new matchups join a card that does not have a confirmed location at the moment.
Former LFA Champ Cherant Returns Against Knight
Looking for his first UFC win, former LFA Light Heavyweight Champion Fabio Cherant will fight William Knight in August. The bout was confirmed earlier this week in a report from Nolan King and Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie.
Cherant made his UFC debut in March, stepping in on short notice in replacement of Knight. His first UFC fight ended quickly, as Alonzo Menifield finished him in the second minute with a von flue choke.
Cherant was entering the UFC after a strong run on the regional scene. His three-fight win streak culminated earlier this year when he defeated Myron Dennis to earn an LFA belt.
Knight is returning after taking his first UFC loss, fighting to a unanimous decision against Da Un Jung last year. His previous bout was his promotional debut, where he defeated Aleksa Camur on scorecards.
Sherman vs. Porter Given New Date
A heavyweight clash between Chase Sherman and Parker Porter has been re-booked by the UFC, now being targeted for August. The new date for the clash was confirmed by Mike Heck of MMA Fighting.
Sherman and Porter were first set to compete at an April 17th card, although it was thrown out after Porter withdrew. Sherman still competed on that card, losing on short notice to veteran Andrei Arlovski.
Porter’s last appearance saw him earn his first UFC win, defeating Josh Parisian on scorecards last year.
