Heavyweight fighter Maurice Greene is no longer part of the UFC roster following a recent loss.
Greene announced his departure from the UFC roster through social media on Tuesday.
“When one door closes another one opens,” said Greene in an Instagram post. “I have had ups and downs with the #ufc and today that relationship comes to an end.”
Greene entered the UFC in 2018 after competing in Season 28 of “The Ultimate Fighter.” He started his promotional run strong, stringing together three consecutive wins.
He has struggled more as of late, losing four of his last five. Greene’s last appearance was earlier this month, where he lost a decision to Marcos Rogerio de Lima.
Greene noted in his statement that he remains motivated and willing to compete in MMA.
“This game is unforgiving but hey I’m down for the challenge of making my name with a new promotion or the road back,” said Greene.
