Light heavyweight action won’t take place on Bellator’s May 21st main card, as a fight between Christian Edwards and Ben Parrish has been removed from the lineup. The fight was scrapped after undefeated prospect Edwards wasn’t cleared by the medical commission, per an announcement by the promotion.
The matchup was set to take place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, USA.
The fight was set to open a five-fight main card on U.S. TV network Showtime. It has been replaced by a flyweight fight between Valerie Loureda and Hannah Guy, which was previously set to happen on the prelims.
Edwards was set to make his fifth appearance in the Bellator cage. Three of his four previous appearances have come via stoppage within the first two rounds.
His last appearance was in October, where he stopped Hamza Salim in the second round with a rear naked choke.
The fight was set to be the first Bellator appearance for Parrish. It was also going to be his first fight since 2019.
Bellator Featherweight Champion Cris Cyborg is set to rematch Leslie Smith in the main event of Friday’s card.
