Juliana Velasquez will put her Bellator Flyweight Championship on the line for the first time on July 16th, fighting Denise Kielholtz in the main event of Bellator 262.
The fight will take place in front of a live attendance at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, USA, per a press release.
Velasquez took the belt from long-time champ Ilima-Lei Macfarlane late last year, defeating her via unanimous decision after five rounds. The fight handed Macfarlane her first pro loss after 12 appearances as a pro.
Velasquez was given the title shot after scoring five wins in Bellator from 2017 to 2019. The run included three stoppage wins and a split decision victory over previous title challenger Alejandra Lara.
She will now battle against Kielholtz, a decorated kickboxer that has had a strong series of wins under MMA rules in Bellator recently.
Kielholtz has scored four finish victories in the past two years. She most recently used her sharp strikes to stop Kate Jackson within a minute last year.
Kielholtz has competed in Bellator’s MMA division since 2017. Prior to then, she fought frequently in Bellator’s now-inactive kickboxing promotion and had a strong campaign in Enfusion.
