ONE Championship’s all-women May 22nd event has been postponed recently due to COVID-19, per a press release sent out by the promotion earlier this week.
The event was set to be headlined by 125-pound champ Xiong Jing Nan, who would fight Michelle Nicolini. The card was also set to have the opening round of an eight-woman grand prix that included big names in the promotion like Ham Seo Hee and Itsuki Hirata.
The card was going to take place live on Friday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
“As always, the health and safety of our athletes, staff, and fans is our top priority,” said the promotion in a press release. “A new date for the event and other details will be announced at a later date.”
The move to postpone the event comes after Singapore has seen a slight uptick in COVID-19 cases recently. Singapore has seen a slight uptick in cases in recent weeks, counting roughly over two dozen new cases every day. The increase in cases has had implications for Singapore, as the plan to open a travel bubble with Hong Kong has been postponed because of it.
To replace ONE’s May 22nd card, the promotion will air a pre-taped lineup. Headlining the card is a Muay Thai bout between Saemapetch Fairtex and Kulabdam Sor. Jor. Piek Uthai. The card will feature three MMA fights, including a co-main event between Kantharaj Agasa and Xie Wei.
It is not known when the pre-taped fights took place.
ONE will also air “Full Blast II” on June 25th, per the promotion’s website.
Here is how the new May 22nd ONE lineup looks:
Bout 5: Saemapetch Fairtex vs. Kulabdam Sor. Jor Piek Uthai (145 lbs) (Muay Thai Bout)
Bout 4: Kantharaj Agasa (11-2) vs. Xie Wei (6-3) (135 lbs) (MMA Bout)
