A slick combination from Saemapetch Fairtex earned him a first-round Muay Thai victory against Kulabdam Sor. Jor. Piek Uthai in the main event of ONE Championship’s “Full Blast” card.
The fight headlined a pre-recorded five-fight event from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore. It is not known when the fights were initially taped.
Saemapetch’s combination towards Kulabdam included a left cross to the body which knocked him down, causing an end to the fight moments after. Prior exchanges in the bout seemed like a feeling-out process between the two accomplished strikers.
Saemapetch now has two consecutive wins in ONE. His previous appearance in the promotion was in August of last year, where he scored a decision victory against Rodlek PK.Saenthaimuaythaigym. The fight was the first round of a four-man tournament, although Saemapetch was later pulled from the grand final fight.
Before then, Saemapetch had lost a title fight to Nong-O Gaiyanghadao in 2019.
Kulabdam had also competed in the four-man Muay Thai bracket that Saemapetch was part of last year. After scoring a first-round knockout over Sangmanee Klong Suanpluresort, Kulabdam lost in the finals to Rodlek.
Xie Retires Agasa In-Between Rounds
Strong defense and the ability to do damage with punches scored Xie Wei a win over Kantharaj Agasa in the co-main event. The fight was stopped in-between the second and third round, and was seemingly because of Agasa not being able to get up for the round.
Agasa had constantly chased down Xie for takedowns through the two downs of action. Xie was able to block the takedowns attempts and find space to land strikes on the feet.
Agasa suffered a deep cut late in the second round from a flying knee from Xie which connected.
Agasa entered the fight after competing in notable promotions Brave CF and UAE Warriors.
Xie now has two wins since he joined the flagship ONE roster last year.
Simson Wins ONE Kickboxing Debut
Former GLORY Kickboxer Miles Simson won his ONE Championship debut on the card, out-landing Santino Verbeek for a decision win after three rounds of kickboxing.
Both 185-pound fighters kept a high output of strikes throughout, although it was the strikes of Simson that earned him the win.
After his win, Simson said he started to throw with a higher volume of strikes after realizing he had the “speed advantage” over Verbeek.
Verbeek had previously picked up a decision win against Juan Vertvantes in ONE.
Kelly Snaps Losing Streak with Split Decision Win
ONE veteran Edward Kelly snapped a two-fight skid with a split decision victory over Ahmed Faress. While Faress was able to get Kelly in trouble at moments, it was Kelly’s output that earned him the win.
Faress’ best moments were on the ground in the first two rounds, where he was able to threaten Kelly with submission attempts.
Something changed dramatically in the third round, as Faress suddenly stopped throwing strikes. Kelly was able to control the slow-paced striking round and win the fight afterward.
Kelly has competed in ONE Championship since 2014, with his last fight being his 16th fight for the promotion.
Faress had a two-fight win streak prior to his loss on the main card.
Do Secures Triangle Choke For First ONE Win
Anthony Do picked up his first ONE win in the opening bout of the card, putting Liang Hui unconscious in the second round with a triangle choke.
Keeping with the triangle choke, Do was eventually able to but Liang to sleep.
Do had previously appeared on ONE’s “Warrior Series,” where he lost to Lito Adiwang.
Liang is now on a five-fight losing streak that includes two fights in ONE Championship.
