CFFC Champ Jeremiah Wells Steps In To Face Warlley Alves At June 26th UFC Event

Warlley Alves will remain on UFC’s June 26th card, now being matched against promotional newcomer Jeremiah Wells for a welterweight bout. Wells is stepping in for Ramazan Emeev, who had to withdraw from the card previously.

The new matchup was confirmed by ESPN’s site earlier this week. It joins a card that is expected to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Wells was set to make his UFC debut last year against Miguel Baeza, although that fight fell through after Baeza did not pass his pre-fight medicals.

Wells is making his first appearance after becoming the CFFC Welterweight Champion in September of 2019. The 34-year-old claimed the belt in dominant fashion, submitting Marco Smallman in the second round with a rear naked choke.

Now with a new opponent, Alves has the chance to score his second win of the year.

Alves earned a quick stoppage win to start 2021, finishing Mounir Lazzez within a round with strikes in January. The bout was his first time in the UFC cage since late 2019.

It is not known currently why Emeev was pulled from his fight against Alves.

UFC’s card on Saturday night is up to 13 fights in total with the new pairing. The event is currently set to be headlined by heavyweights Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov.

Here is how the lineup looks at the moment.
