Gilbert Urbina Submits Alternate Opponent Michael Gillmore To Advance on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’

Gilbert Urbina became the final fighter to advance to the quarter-finals in Season 29 of UFC TV show “The Ultimate Fighter,” submitting bracket alternate Michael Gillmore in the first round with a rear naked choke on Tuesday’s episode.

The dominant win for Urbina saw him mount the back of Gillmore early on in the fight. He kept on his back as the fight went to the ground, allowing him to land punches and eventually apply the choke for the win.

Gillmore entered the fight as a short-notice replacement in the tournament. He was stepping in for Miles Hunsinger, who had to withdraw from the tournament due to an MCL injury that he suffered in training.

Hunsinger was one of the many undefeated fighters in the tournament, having joined the bracket with an flawless record of seven wins.

Gillmore joined the show with a pro record of six wins and three losses, including a three-fight winning streak from 2019 to 2020.

Urbina, an LFA and Combate Global vet, entered this season of “The Ultimate Fighter” with a pro record of six wins and one loss.
