Victor Dias defended his Titan FC Flyweight Championship for the first time on Friday night, ending the win streak of Ryskulbek Ibraimov with a third-round armbar submission. The title fight headlined Titan FC 72, which took place at the InterContinental Hotel Miami in Miami, Florida, USA.
The finish win for Dias came after his most successful round yet, as he spent minutes searching for submissions on the ground.
Dias was also successful earlier in the bout.
He took the back of Ibraimov in the second round and attempted a rear naked choke. Confusingly, he was stood up due to inactivity. Dias landed another takedown before the round concluded.
Ibraimov scored a takedown early in the second round, although it was Dias that took most control time by the time the round wrapped up.
Dias first secured the Titan FC belt in March with a first-round submission over Wascar Cruz. The title fight was part of a three-fight winning streak that he had put together in the promotion.
Ibraimov was entering Titan FC on an eight-fight winning streak that mostly took place on the Kyrgyzstan regional scene.
Kuse Puts Away Fuller In Just Over Minute
Ryan Kuse pummeled an inexperienced Rob Fuller in the co-main event, stopping him in the first round with hard ground and pound shots.
Kuse, an undefeated fighter through five bouts, slammed Fuller and landed numerous strikes on the ground.
Kuse competed just last month, stopping Amir Naser Kazemi with strikes in the second round.
Fuller has now scored one win through 14 pro fights.
‘Contender Series’ Alum Naimov Ends Losing Streak
Muhammad Naimov put an end to his losing streak on Friday, securing a late first-round arm triangle choke submission against Andres Ponce.
Naimov got the choke in the final moments of the round, keeping a hold of it until a tap eventually came.
Naimov had full guard on top for a large part of the first round. He was taken down late in the round but was able to take top position after threatening with a kimura. He earned the submission shortly after.
Naimov entered the bout on a two-fight losing streak that included a fight on “Dana White’s Contender Series.”
Ponce now has a negative record of four wins, seven losses and one draw.
Echeverria Runs Through Winless Sabino
Undefeated prospect Roybert Echeverria ran through significantly less experienced Kenneth Sabino, stopping the winless bantamweight in the first round with punches.
Charging forward with punches, a wailing right hook from Echeverria floored Sabino to end their fight in the second minute.
Sabino is now undefeated as a pro through six fights, with many wins coming against unsuccessful regional fighters.
The bout put Sabinoa’s pro record at three losses and no wins.
Veteran Williams Scores Rare Submission on Ynastrilla
Veteran Nate Williams picked up a quick victory on Friday, submitting Christian Ynastrilla in the first round via submission.
Williams put Ynastrilla in the choke while on his back in full guard. The rare choke that wasn’t recognized by the broadcast was announced as a “spine twister submission.”
Williams, an MMA veteran of over a decade, was making his first appearance in Titan FC. He is now back into the win column after taking a loss in May.
Ynastrilla has now lost three consecutive fights in Titan FC.
GLORY Kickboxer Ten Pow Dominates In MMA Debut
GLORY Kickboxer Asa Ten Pow won his MMA debut on Friday, defeating Earnest Walls in what played out as a huge mismatch.
Ten Pow dominated Walls with strikes throughout, eventually putting an end to the fight in the first round with ground and pound.
The loss continued a long 16-fight losing streak in MMA for Walls. Amid the losing streak is also a boxing skid of 10 losses that started in 2019. Rough record aside, Walls also had to deal with a visible size difference with Ten Pow.
Abanokov Opens Card With Quick Submission
Soslan Abanokov opened the main card with a submission, catching Ty Kalista with a guillotine choke. He secured the choke while being taken down late in the fight, putting a sudden end to their contest.
Abanokov succeeded earlier in the first round as well, holding full guard on Kalista for a large portion of the frame.
The fight was Abanokov’s return, with his previous bout being a 2019 loss to Journey Newson, who went on to compete in the UFC.
Kalista had lost just three months ago to Lucas Alexander on a Combat Night Pro card.
