Aspen Ladd’s bantamweight bout against Macy Chiasson has been pulled from UFC’s October 2nd “Fight Night” event following weigh-in issues Friday.
The fight was set to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Ladd failed to make the non-championship bantamweight limit at Friday’s weigh-ins, coming in over the 136-pound mark twice. After first weighing 141.5 pounds, Ladd returned to the scale later to come in at 137-pounds, making her just one pound over the limit.
Ladd was visibly uncomfortable while on the scale for the second time, shaking and struggling to stay still as they looked to specify her weight.
UFC officials confirmed to MMA Fighting on Friday that the fight would not proceed.
The news from Friday continues a string of cancelled bouts for Ladd, which have kept her sidelined since late 2019. She has been booked in three fights since 2020, with many falling off cards due to injury of her opponent or herself.
Ladd was initially booked to face Chiasson in July of this year, although that bout was delayed after Chiasson suffered an injury.
Saturday’s UFC card is currently set to proceed with 12 fights in total. Light heavyweights Thiago Santos and Johnny Walker and currently scheduled to headline the show.
