Rising featherweight Giga Chikadze could get another UFC main event bout in early 2022. UFC is reportedly in the process of booking him in the headlining spot of their January 15th card against veteran Calvin Kattar, per Nolan King and John Morgan of MMA Junkie.
While the fight hasn’t been signed off on, it is reportedly expected to be finalized shortly. Should the fight be booked, it would join a “Fight Night” card that doesn’t have a confirmed location at the moment.
Chikadze scored his first UFC main event victory in August, closing out a striking battle against Edson Barboza in the third round. The victory added to an extensive seven-fight UFC win streak that has been quickly put together since 2019.
After defeating Barboza and Cub Swanson, Chikadze has the chance to add another big name to his streak of victories when facing Kattar.
Kattar has put together a strong record of six wins and three losses since joining the UFC roster in 2017. He was on the losing side of a dominant performance early this year, losing via unanimous decision to former UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway.
Kattar was given the title shot after attaining two consecutive wins in 2020.
