Two new matchups have recently been confirmed for UFC’s February 12th pay-per-view lineup, including a couple of names from New Zealand’s City Kickboxing gym. The fights join a card that doesn’t have a confirmed location at the moment.
Cherant and Ulberg Search For First UFC Win In Light Heavyweight Pairing
Light heavyweights Fabio Cherant and Carlos Ulberg will both be in the hunt for their first UFC win when paired up for UFC 271. News of the matchup was first reported by Alex Behunin of Cageside Press.
Cherant, a former LFA Light Heavyweight Champion, has lost two bouts since joining the UFC roster this year. His last bout was in August, where William Knight stopped him in the third round with punches.
Undefeated Diamond To Make UFC Debut Against Cosce
City Kickboxing talent Mike Diamond will get his first UFC bout in February when facing Orion Cosce. Mike Heck of MMA Fighting confirmed the booking on Wednesday.
Diamond has a short, yet flawless pro record of three wins in MMA. His last fight was in early 2020, where he defeated Dimps Gillies on an Eternal MMA card.
Cosce is coming off an unsuccessful UFC debut. He lost his first bout with the promotion in July, getting stopped by Philip Rowe.
A few bouts have been confirmed for UFC 271 thus far. The show doesn’t have a main event at the moment, although it has been noted before by UFC President Dana White that he wants a middleweight title bout between Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker in the main event.
