UFC’s final pay-per-view card of 2021 has taken a hit, as Jorge Masvidal has withdrawn from his highly-anticipated December 11th welterweight bout against Leon Edwards. Brett Okamoto of ESPN broke the news first.
The fight was scheduled to take place at UFC 269, which is set to happen at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Masvidal was pulled from the card due to an undisclosed injury, per the report. He was coming off a title shot loss to Kamaru Usman earlier this year.
It is not known if Edwards, who was booked to fight in just over a month, will get a new opponent for the date.
Edwards took a win in his last appearance, earning a unanimous decision win over Nate Diaz in June after a five-round battle. The fight continued an undefeated run that he has been on since 2016.
UFC Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira is currently scheduled to face Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 269.
