Trouble has only continued for UFC’s November 20th event, as heavyweight Tai Tuivasa revealed Thursday that he has withdrawn from his fight against Augusto Sakai.
Tuivasa, who resides in Australia, cited travel issues as the reason for his departure from the card. He was set to fight at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
“My team is getting on top of it and we should be back in the new year [and] ready to bang,” said Tuivasa via Instagram.
Tuivasa’s departure from the card was first reported by Christopher Reive of the New Zealand Herald.
Tuivasa was looking to follow up on a quick stoppage win that he scored over Greg Hardy earlier this year.
It is not known at the moment whether Sakai will get a new opponent for his booking next week. He was attempting to snap a two-fight losing streak in the appearance, coming back after main event losses to Alistair Overeem and Jairzinho Rozenstruick.
UFC’s November 20th show continues to change every day. As it stands currently, the main event is set to see former UFC Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate face Ketlen Vieira.
