Kris Moutinho now has a new date in place for his return. The bantamweight is being targeted to face Guido Cannetti at UFC’s March 12th event, per a report from MMA Argento.
Should the fight be finalized, it would join a card that doesn’t have a confirmed location at the moment.
Moutinho made his UFC debut in July, showing his toughness against a skilled Sean O’Malley. After consuming a large number of shots from O’Malley, Moutinho was stopped in the final minute of action.
Moutinho entered the UFC after scoring nine wins and five losses on the regional scene. His second appearance in the promotion was first set to happen in October against Aaron Phillips, although that matchup later was scrapped.
The fight will give Cannetti a chance to snap a three-fight skid. He has gone winless since 2018, with two of those losses being via stoppage. His last fight was in August, where former Fury FC Bantamweight Champion Mana Martinez beat him via split decision.
It was reported last month that UFC is aiming to pair up Thiago Santos and Magomed Ankalaev for the main event of their March 12th card. It is the only other bout currently reported for that date.
