Bellator President Scott Coker recently revealed two title fights that he is planning to book for his promotion soon. Details of these bouts first appeared during an interview with Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie.
The bigger of the two potential bouts is a clash between Bellator Middleweight Champion Yarsolav Amosov and flashy fighter Michael Page. Coker is planning to give Page a home-court advantage for the bout, targeting the fight to happen on a card in London, England.
Amosov gained his middleweight belt in 2021, dethroning Douglas Lima via unanimous decision. The fight kept Amosov’s undefeated record alive, which now includes 26 wins and seven victories in the Bellator cage.
Page is being targeted for a title bout after avenging his sole pro loss to Lima in 2021. He beat him via split decision in October, securing his sixth consecutive win since September 2019.
Coker: Cyborg vs. Zingano Next Up
Coker also revealed that he is hoping to book Bellator Featherweight Champion Cris Cyborg up against Cat Zingano next.
Cyborg’s title run in Bellator has been nothing short of dominant since joining the promotion in early 2020. She defended her belt for the third time in November, finishing Sinead Kavanagh in under two minutes with punches.
Zingano, a former UFC fighter, has earned two wins since joining Bellator. She secured a submission victory last time around, submitting Olivia Parker in April 2021.
Two Title Fights Confirmed For 2022 Bellator Schedule
As it stands currently, Bellator has two title fights booked for their 2022 schedule.
Bellator’s heavyweight belts will be unified on January 29th, as Bellator Heavyweight Champion Ryan Bader will fight interim champ Valentin Moldvasky.
Undefeated Austin Vanderford will fight in his first title appearance on February 25th, facing Bellator Middleweight Champion Gegard Mousasi in Dublin, Ireland.
