Just hours after Michel Pereira was reportedly given a new opponent for this weekend, he has gotten his fight booted ahead by a week due to COVID-19 protocols.
Pereira is now expected to face Andre Fialho at UFC’s January 22nd pay-per-view card, per a report from Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting. The matchup is expected to go down at UFC 270 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, USA.
Pereira was originally scheduled to face Muslim Salikhov at this weekend’s UFC “Fight Night” event. But, he was paired against promotional newcomer Fialho on Tuesday after Salikhov withdrew from their fight.
The change brings Saturday’s UFC card back down to a total of 11 matchups. It is currently set to be headlined by featherweights Calvin Kattar and Giga Chikadze.
