Kennedy Nzechukwu Steps In To Face Nick Negumereanu At UFC 272

A slight change has been made to UFC’s March 5th pay-per-view card.

Ihor Potieria has reportedly withdrawn from his fight against Nick Negumereanu. Replacing him will be Kennedy Nzechukwu, per an official lineup revealed by the promotion Thursday.

The fight has been confirmed for UFC 272, which is set to happen at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

It is not known at the moment why Potieria was withdrawn from his fight against Negumereanu. The bout was set to be his UFC debut after getting signed to the promotion last year.

Now into the lineup, Nzechukwu will be fighting to get back to his winning ways. He had a three-fight winning streak snapped in November, as Jung Da-un picked up a first-round finish win against him.

Nzechukwu has won three of his five UFC bouts since entering the promotion in 2019.

The PPV booking gives Negumereanu a chance to move his winning streak to a trio of fights. He had two wins last year, defeating Aleksa Camur via split decision and stopping Ike Villanueva in the first round of a bout.

A grudge match between welterweights Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal is currently expected for the main event of UFC 272. Here is the updated card:

Bout 10: Colby Covington (16-3) vs. Jorge Masvidal (35-15) (Welterweight)

Bout 5: Tim Elliott (17-12-1) vs. Tagir Ulanbekov (13-1) (Flyweight)

Bout 4: Marina Rodriguez (15-1-2) vs. Yan Xiaonan (13-2) (Strawweight)
