The state of Florida will get a UFC pay-per-view event soon.
UFC recently announced that their April 9th event, UFC 273, will take place at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, USA.
UFC 273 currently has two title fights scheduled for it.
The official main event is expected to see UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski face The Korean Zombie.
This matchup was made last month after the previous challenger for Volkanovski, Max Holloway, had to withdraw from a title fight due to injury. Holloway has since been medically cleared and is now reportedly campaigning to be an alternate for that title fight.
In the co-main event, UFC Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling will face Petr Yan in a rematch.
Sterling first defeated Yan in early 2021. This result came due to a fourth-round disqualification from Yan, as he landed an illegal knee to the head of Sterling.
Yan has since become an interim titleholder, defeating Cory Sandhagen in October 2021.
UFC’s most recent event in Jacksonville was UFC 261 in April 2021. The event was the promotion’s first U.S. event with a live crowd since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
