Riding the momentum of a successful performance just earlier this year, Ramona Pascual will make her short-notice UFC debut on February 26th against Josiane Nunes. Pascual will be replacing Jennifer Gonzalez, per Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting.
The new matchup is joining a “Fight Night” card that is set to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on Saturday.
Due to the short-notice nature of the fight, the matchup will take place at featherweight. The expectation is that both Pascual and Nunes will compete in UFC’s bantamweight division after this appearance.
Pascual won her Invicta FC debut last month, scoring a stoppage win over Shamir Peshewa in just a minute. The fight was her fourth consecutive win since 2017.
Nunes is riding the momentum of a successful UFC debut. That fight was in August 2021, where she stopped Bea Malecki in the first round with punches.
It is not known at the moment why Gonzalez was withdrawn from the fight. Not only was Gonzalez pulled from her fight against Nunes, but she was also reportedly cut from the UFC roster altogether.
