Bellator and PFL fighter Jordan Young’s death has been ruled an accidental overdose, per the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office in Broward County, Florida, USA.
Young passed away in December 2021 at 27 years old. A toxicology report, which was obtained by Steven Marrocco of MMA Fighting, says that Young had fentanyl and alprazolam (also known as Xanax) in his system at the time of death.
An investigation report detailed that a friend of Young found him unresponsive on the morning of December 18th. He was pronounced dead by first responders later that morning.
Young’s death was announced late last year to the shock of the MMA world.
“Our team is deeply saddened by this news, as Jordan has been with our team since the start of his career,” said American Top Team, the gym that represented him. “A solid teammate and always a professional in our gym. He will be deeply missed by us.”
Young appeared in the 2021 PFL Regular Season, fighting in their light heavyweight division. He had previously appeared seven times in Bellator from 2017 to 2019.
