Undefeated Lightweight Kayla Harrison Re-Signs With PFL

Kayla Harrison has inked a new contract with PFL, allowing her to defend her status as the promotion’s top lightweight in the upcoming 2022 season. News of her re-signing to the promotion was reported by Marc Raimondi of ESPN on Tuesday.

Harrison’s signing with PFL comes after a free agency period where she fielded offers from numerous promotions. The best offer she reportedly received was from Bellator, although PFL had the right to match what they offered. After PFL matched Bellator’s offer, it was confirmed that the champ would return to the promotion.

Harrison was also reportedly offered a UFC contract, however, it wasn’t as lucrative as what Bellator or PFL offered.

Harrison has dominated PFL’s 155-pound women’s roster since it was opened in 2019. She became a two-time champ in 2021, picking up four consecutive stoppage wins in the year.

Harrison is undefeated since turning pro in 2018, attaining a dozen wins in that time.

If Harrison were to join another promotion like the UFC or Bellator, she would have likely dropped down a weight class to compete at 145 pounds. PFL’s deal allows her to stay at lightweight.
